this! In fact, here are 5 tips that you can adopt to bring you out of the
self-guilt. Spill tea: these tips are truly for the lazy-to-exercise city
dweller
#1: Sleep Early Skip Supper
Obviously if you hit the sheets
two-hours earlier, you avoid the temptation of late-night snacking. No brainer
for doing the math; less intake equals less gains. Not only that, we all
remember our mothers’ nagging at us to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each
night, right? Sufficient sleep helps reset the body and keeps our cortisol
levels in check. So, if you don’t intend to exercise for calorie burn, try
reducing the calories by sleeping earlier!
#2: Drink More Water
Aim for at least 8 cups of water
daily. Drinking water increases the amount of calories you burn, this is known
as resting energy expenditure[1]. Some
people also claim that drinking water before a meal reduces appetite. So
indirectly, you end up eating less and hence absorb less calories. Again, a
matter of math!
#3: Black Coffee
“Coffee
increases metabolism because its main component, caffeine, is a
stimulant that enhances your metabolic thermogenesis, which is the process
by which the body generates heat from digested food substances,” says Daniel
Boyer, MD, a medical researcher in Des Moines, Iowa, who focuses on
molecular biology and pharmacology[2]. Some research also
suggest that caffeine is a stimulant that gets your bowels moving, which in
turn leads to a flatter belly.
#4: Sit Upright
A good sitting posture means that
you’re engaging and toning your stomach muscles. Putting your muscles to work
while you’re at the desk doesn’t sound like that bad an idea right?
#5: Exercise!
As much as you try to avoid it, a
good balance of diet and exercise is the true recipe for weight loss and
health. Pick a routine that you enjoy, it can be HIIT exercises, running along
your neighborhood or even 10 minutes of jumping rope at home while watching
Netflix. So long as your output is greater than your input, you’ll definitely
see the scales drop in no time!
