How to Set Meaningful Goals for 2022
We’re two weeks into the new year—have you taken the time to map out your 2022 yet?
It’s the same
story every year. When 1 January rolls around, most of us feel pressured to
come up with New Year’s resolutions and grand plans for the rest of the year.

But how many of us
have actually looked back on 31 December and can proudly proclaim that we’ve
successfully completed all of our resolutions?
Instead of
stressing out over trying to hit goals that seem increasingly far-fetched as
the year goes by, let’s take some time now at the start of the year to set
goals that we can confidently achieve.
We’re not looking
at a list of steps that will leave you reeling. We’re looking at three prompts
that’ll get you thinking more deeply about what you want to achieve this year.
Prompt #1: Reflection
As much as we’re
excited to see what this year brings, it’s important to reflect on the past
first. Get a good idea of what were the good points you want to repeat from
last year, and the not-so-good parts you want to step away from.

What worked, and
what didn’t? Can you identify any areas where you felt scattered trying to do
too many things?
Make the space for
something new.
Prompt #2: Looking ahead

This is the part
where you can dream big. And I mean really big. Don’t shortchange
yourself at this step by playing it safe and small.
In your perfect
world, what do you want to achieve in 2022?
What are some
tangible wins you want to see in 2022? It can be in your personal life or in
your work/business. How do you want to show up for the people closest to you?
Get excited about
the year ahead.
Prompt #3: Planning the
details
Dreaming big is
the first step, but the stairway to success is paved with individual steps and
smaller tasks.

Where can you be
more focused? Can you zero in on one thing that feels really important to you?
And what is one
thing you can do that will move you closer to your goals? How do you commit to
this on a daily basis?
Find one thing to
zero in on. Not five or ten, but one, non-negotiable thing that has to happen
for you in 2022. Then get really laser-focused on how to make that happen.
We all have so
many things we want to accomplish, but it’s more effective to go all-in on one
goal and achieve it, instead of half-heartedly chasing a bunch of small goals.
And once you’ve
slayed your first metaphorical beast of the year, ride that momentum and go for
the rest!
